Joy - Brand New Trailer!

I would like to add a disclaimer to this: I really don’t like David O. Russell as a human being. True, I can appreciate the great films that he has produced but I cannot understand all the furore around him when he I not only abusive to his cast and crew, but an arrogant prick whose films are just a step up from average. I have no time for a man who treats the filmmakers around him like scum and puffs his chest proudly when it comes to award season (and probably leaves his cheque book and mouth wide open).

Anyway, he is back with a brand new film with, surprise surprise, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper to tell the story of the maker of some sort of cloth. That’s nothing to sniff at, by the way, because the personal focus of the movie actually relies on the cleaning product to tell the story. It centres on Joy, a young girl who wants to start a business and soon, within four generations of women, becomes to sole matriarch in her own right.

The trailers do look good, mainly because of the choir soundtracks and the fact that Lawrence could pretty much fart on film and we will be wailing about how amazing she is. The thing is is that it looks like a fairly bog-standard O. Russell film, just showcasing how he can actually use different camera techniques to elevate a film…. Other than that, it seems really ordinary.
